Here’s how to defeat inflation

THIS week’s inflation data on both sides of the Atlantic have confirmed two things. The direction of travel is down. That’s obviously good news. But it’s also clear that the rate of decline is slower than hoped for. It’s a worrying reminder that, when the dust has settled, we may find ourselves in an ongoing environment of higher structural inflation.
