Historically, small caps have traded at a premium to their large cap counterparts. This premium is usually attributed to small caps' inherently bigger growth potential and M&A prospects. For the first time in 20 years, however, the small cap premium has disappeared. MSCI World Small Cap's valuation sits around 10% below that of MSCI World. Part of the reason for this is structural.
