A judgment by the Belgian Court of Cassation has sided with the tax authorities in a long-running dispute involving Luxembourg investment funds marketed in Belgium. As a result, the Belgian state is not required to refund the annual Tax on Collective Investment Undertakings (CIU tax), worth more than 1.5 billion euros, to those funds. However, the final word on the matter has yet to be spoken.
