Loneliness in the Digital Age

Loneliness is of all times, but in the digital age, loneliness is taking on epic proportions. In America, between 2003 and 2020, personal social contact with friends fell from 60 minutes a day (30 hours a month) to 20 minutes a day (10 hours a month). 10 hours a month? Aren't we supposed to be social animals for whom social contact is as much of a need as food and sleep?
