You sometimes read that the average financial wealth in Belgium is over 100,000 euros. The average Belgian is indeed quite wealthy, but unfortunately does not exist. The middle observation (the median) is much lower: an average Belgian family has a financial wealth of only 20,000 euros. So, half of Belgian families own less than 20,000 euros in financial wealth.
