Euronext sees retail investors as ‘liquidity engine’ for derivatives market

Mini-options introduced for retail investors last year have generated as many as 500,000 additional contracts traded on Euronext over the past twelve months. The exchange operator hopes this “liquidity engine” will help draw more institutional investors into Europe’s derivatives market. “New derivatives products often struggle to gain traction among institutional investors as long as trading volumes remain limited. They tend to wait until there is sufficient liquidity,” said Euronext’s Charlotte Alliot.
